The Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Association, in conjunction with Mecklenburg County Parks & Rec, are pleased to announce MIDWOODSTOCK, a free concert in Midwood Park on Saturday August 11, from 12:00 to 7:00.

MIDWOODSTOCK is a make-up date for the concert that was rained out during our annual Midwood Maynia festival. We felt it was important to reschedule the bands because the concert is such a popular event in Plaza Midwood, and also to give us one more opportunity to recognize all the sponsors and supporters who make Plaza Midwood a great place to live year after year. We are also coming together in celebration of the neighborhood spirit that sustained us through the destruction and difficulty caused by the recent storm that toppled so many of our oldest trees.

We would like to invite all of Charlotte to bring a picnic, spend a day with us in the park, listen to the music, and visit our thriving community garden. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do to ensure MIDWOODSTOCK is listed in the appropriate pages of the Charlotte Music Awards. We will be glad to provide additional information as needed. The schedule of performers is listed below. Thanks!

Midwoodstock 2007, Saturday, August 11. Midwood Park: Intersection of Winter and Wilhelmina near Mecklenburg Ave. 12:00 - 1:00 Tom Billotto: The finest professional acoustic guitar player in town, Tom returns to the Midwood stage with talented friend Jimmy Bookout, forming Standard Brands. 1:30 - 2:30 Seth Boulton and the Dream Machine: An alternative modern rock band whose major influences cover a wide variety of performers but they can best be compared to the stylings of Ryan Adams, U2, David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, The Police and Coldplay. Their debut CD, UNDERGROUND, has been causing quite a buzz on the east coast. 3:00 - 4:00 Square Roots: Rich in Americana based music, this foursome blends acoustic guitars, various forms of hand percussion and three part harmony vocals that promises the best musical time you'll ever have. 4:30 - 5:30 Bossy Cow: This high energy funky folk band is led by the original songwriting of Elaine Hager and Steve Cudic along with former members of longtime Charlotte area rhythm and blues group Skatfish. The band combines rootsy Americana folk rock, swampy raw grooves and fresh melodies with an original twist. 6:00 - 7:00 Eva Fina: Band members from Maynia favorite La Rua have reformed to bring us an all new Latino Rock jam that should not be missed.
